This week, I came across an article on page 8 of the April 21 edition of the Montreal English language weekly, The Suburban.
The headline reads: Tickets will be issued for Hampstead council decorum violations.
Hampstead is a wealthy community in Montreal and this article reports that the council will issue tickets to any citizen who speaks out of turn at a council meeting.
Heavens to Betsy, Darlings ! This is the beginning of the end of freedom of speech !
Once the other boroughs of Montreal get this news, we common folks who dare to question the councils will be effectively gagged and the councils will be able to terrorize anyone who dares to step out of line.
We in the borough of NDG have already been suppressed time and again by minor mayor Michael Applebaum and his team. Mr. Applebaum does not like the common folks to question his activities - such as his real estate business which he carried on while mayor of the borough - and the head of the zoning committee - until, finally, our questions caused him to resign as head of the zoning committee.

Mr. Applebaum's right hand, borough councillor Marvin Rotrand, threatened in open assembly to have me evicted and sent to the ends of the earth for eternity - alright, less dramatically: He threatened to have me removed from the public meeting never to return, for daring to question and point out that the emperor was naked.
