DRIP - DRIP - DRIP - THE WORLD IS WATCHING

Drip, drip, drip, drip.

The meagre drips of Canadian justice take a long time to reach crime victims in Montreal, Quebec. Drip, drip, drip, drip. They haven't reached me yet, but I persist in demanding my share of justice.

In spite of and because of everything my family and I have suffered because of Dawn McSweeney's crimes, I persist in demanding the return of every precious thing she stole.

Night and day, I appeal to the Montreal Police authorities, politicians and the media. And they persist in ignoring my pleas.

But now I also reach out to honourable people all over the world.

In spite of all the years of rejection and abuse, of frustration and suffering, I persist in telling the truth about the crimes of Dawn McSweeney and those she boastfully calls her "partners in crime" on her own blog.

At first I appealed to Dawn McSweeney to return everything she had just stolen from me on October 7, 1996. In March, 1997, when she finally returned the things she did not want, and kept all my most precious belongings, I went to my home pleading and weeping.

And Dawn McSweeney stood at the door and laughed at me and mocked me,

And she called the police - who had just a few minutes earlier told me to return to the house and ask for my jewellery.

And the Montreal Police responded quickly to Dawn McSweeney's call and came to my home and told me to leave - empty-handed - as I was forced to do by the police officer on October 7, 1996.  - or I would be arrested.

I begged the lady officer to arrest me.

"If you can't arrest the thief, arrest me. At least then, the case will come to court."

But the officer appealed to me. "Please Mrs. Carter, I don't want to arrest you. Just be patient and we'll work this out."

And so, drenched in tears and in despair, I left.

And all the most precious belongings of my life were left in the hands of a very smug Dawn McSweeney.

It was mid-March, 1997, five months after the robbery when a Montreal Police officer responding to my desperate 911 call - helped Dawn McSweeney to rob me.

I have not been patient for fourteen years. And to this day, the Montreal Police refuse to recover my belongings from Dawn McSweeney or to take legal action in criminal court against her. Or any action at all. Why?

Because a Montreal Police officer helped Dawn McSweeney to rob me and other officers repeatedly covered for the crime by refusing to file a report and by diverting and delaying and suppressing my appeals again and again and again.

At one point, the Montreal Police sent me an email acknowledging my complaint. It reads, We will respond within 72 hours. That was many months ago.

And so I write, appealing to honourable people everywhere to speak out about this crime. And now the world is watching.

Member of Parliament, Marlene Jennings, stated at two public meetings in 2008,

There is justice somewhere,
And I continue to demand my share.

JUSTICE IS NOT IN OUR JURISDICTION - THE COMMON COP-OUT

Based on my own experience of fourteen years trying night and day to get someone to take action against the criminals in my case, I can tell you without hesitation that "not in my jurisdiction" is the cop-out used by everyone at every level of government - Quebec's Police Ethics Commissioner, Denis Racicot, Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada Irwin Cotler, Quebec's Droits de la personne (except me) and victims' rights groups - the latter only being interested in cases of murder or rape.

The thieves in my case laugh at the law and mock their victims openly online and, shortly after the robbery, right to my face, because they see that their crimes are in "nobody's jurisdiction" and no one cares.

Montreal Police have told me more than once that "crime victims have no rights. Only the accused have rights". Crime victims, they said, have to hire a lawyer - and Quebec Legal Aid told me that I was not entitled to their help because I was not the accused.

Marlene Jennings, Member of Parliament declared at two public meetings in 2008, "Mrs. Carter's rights were violated three times." But no one is doing anything about it. See THE DAWN MCSWEENEY CASE -http://dawnmcsweeney.blogspot.com/.

SWIMMING AGAINST THE TIDE

It takes courage to swim against the tide,
But those who go with the tide,
Often go down the drain.

NOT VOTING IS A TRULY HONOURABLE VOTE

None of the mainstream parties are facing the issues of the environment, the dangers of nuclear plants and justice for crime victims.

Some are preaching about how important it is to vote.

I AM VOTING - BY NOT VOTING

I refuse to give my precious vote to a lesser evil. How can anyone justify supporting any party that is selling out the earth's environment and /or denying rights to helpless crime victims? I will not vote for politicians whose primary agenda is to gain and hold power at all cost.

How can I lend my precious vote to those who make deals, compromise principles, distort truth, smother opposition, ignore the pleas of the poor and middle classes, insult our intelligence by refusing to give honest answers to direct questions, deny basic needs including justice to those who are not rich enough to hire expensive lawyers... ? Need I go on?

I am voting for honour and truth and hope - and good government which, right now, does not exist in Canada.

I will not rubber stamp for any politician or party that has already demonstrated contempt for the people of Canada and both the mainstream have done that for years.

Clearly, I would never vote for a party intent upon destroying my country and creating a ghetto for the free people of Quebec or for a party that would compromise our freedom in order to accommodate extremists.

I will not lend my name to the support of any person who has ignored the pleas of victims of crime and abuse.

I vote NO by not voting at all - and that is a truly honourable vote.

VICTIMS' WITNESSES

There are so many victims of crime and abuse. Pages on the Internet are filled with personal stories of fear and frustration at the injustice systems of Canada and the U.S. where abusers are given all the benefits, while women and children who have been abused - are being abused - are left to live in poverty and, so often, in danger. Deals and loopholes used in court leave victims feeling afraid and helpless.

Considering the enormous number of victims, I propose an alliance be formed for the purpose of mutual support and protection. Since the police and the courts will not protect victims, we must protect ourselves. Each person who falls victim - first to thieves and abusers - and then to the injustice system - is left alone. But with so many victims and victims friends and victims' families, sheer numbers have power that have apparently been left untapped.

An organization of victims with branches across North America could turn the tide. What the police and the courts fail to do, we could do ourselves. We cannot catch the criminals or put them in prison. We cannot make the police or the politicians protect us, or make lawyers be honest, but Victims' Witnesses could be a buffer. When a victim needs support, when a victim is being harassed, a call would go out to all members in the area, and support would come on the scene quickly to act a Victims' Witnesses.

For this, victims and their friends would have to be committed and honourable. I know this is asking a lot. But those who want help would have to be willing to stand up for others ... not to take any action, but to be witnesses. Villains hate to be seen doing their dirty deeds.

Alcoholics manage to meet regularly all over North America. There is always someone there for them. Why not for victims of crime and abuse ? It would just take leadership and organization and it could be started immediately if there is the will. No crime victim should be left to live in fear alone.

BASIC TRAINING FOR ASPIRING THIEVES

Considering my experience as a crime victim in Montreal, it occurred to me that I am in a position to give advice to those who are considering becoming thieves but don't know how to go about it.

If I were going to write a manual for aspiring thieves, I would probably include the following:

If you try to rob a bank or a store, the police will likely take an interest and there is some risk that you will eventually get caught, especially if your crime is caught on camera. If not, you'll probably be home free unless someone shoots you. You might be arrested and detained - at least briefly - but if you can't afford a lawyer, I believe you will be entitled to legal aid. So you won't be on your own the way I am as a crime victim.

In time, you may face a judge, unless your lawyer makes a deal for you. If, by chance you get a lawyer who is a drunk or disinterested or incompetent or not in good standing with the judge, it is possible you might have to serve some time in jail, but sooner or later, you will see a parole board and be free to try again. Meanwhile in jail, you will be entitled to a free place to sleep, food, medical care, library books, and other benefits.

Now here is the really important advice. If you rob a family, there is a high possibility that you can take whatever they have and nothing will happen to you. Be sure that you do not injure any person or animal or break any property while committing the robbery. And always speak softly and smile. In my case, the thief, Dawn McSweeney, even wrote adoring poetry to the grandmother she was robbing.

If the person is a relative, you have nothing to worry about. It's a cinch. In any case, befriend the person who has authority in the home and make her feel you care about her. Take it slowly. Don't rush. In my case, the thief waited many years to rob me and my parents. Divert your target's attention by casting aspersions on another person, especially anyone who might suspect you.

When you have access to the house, work on the woman. (Men may be harder to fool and they are usually not at home anyway.) Go for the woman, especially if she is elderly and lonely.

Look for opportunities to get some time alone. Ask for tea - not beer. You can get a real drink and a smoke later. Then work quickly and quietly. If the victim falls asleep for a while, great. Do not disturb.

Get back to your seat on the sofa before she is aware. Make small talk. Do not leave quickly. Sit and sip your tea and chat about pleasant things. Keep the mark comfortable, but play on her fears and get her to believe you are her friend.

If by any chance the home owner realizes you have stolen her most precious belongings, deny, deny, deny. Laugh. How ridiculous can you get? You can even suggest the victim is delusional. In my case, Dawn McSweeney's "partners in crime" obtained a court order by presenting a bizarre application to a Quebec Court judge declaring that I was insane and dangerous. A Quebec Court judge granted the court order in absentia, without ever seeing me or speaking to me. There was no evidence, no medical report, and no witnesses - except the partners in crime themselves - in Montreal, Quebec, Canada in 2007.

If your victim calls 911, don't touch her. Get out of there and disappear. Do not injure anyone or smash anything or the police might take an interest.

I know that this advice is solid - based on personal experience. But of course, I could not write such a manual. I imagine it might be considered illegal. Of course, I cannot afford a lawyer to advise me about this, and I am not entitled to legal aid as I am a crime victim, not a criminal.

Still, if I did write such a book and I was accused of doing wrong, I would then have the advantage of being entitled to all the benefits accorded to other criminals in Montreal, Quebec, Canada - benefits and advantages and perks and deals that I do not have as a crime victim.

Anyway, I am too old and sick to invest myself in writing a book. But I have reported the evidence of my own experience in specific detail and people all over the world are reading it. At last count - 15,000 plus page views at PHYLLIS CARTER'S JOURNAL
and 4600 page views at THE DAWN MCSWEENEY ROBBERY CASE.

BUT YOU CAN'T DO THAT ! JUST WATCH ME -

It seems as far back as I can remember, people who care about me have been telling me what I should not do and what I cannot do. It is always because they love me and they want to protect me.

But I was apparently born with a stubborn streak, a drive that will not quit in spite of all obstacles and fears.

At the age of fourteen I rode a horse from Sunnyside Stables at the foot of Mount Royal through the busy streets of downtown Montreal - with a trolley car clanging at me and my handsome steed Tommy part of the way - to the corner of Peel and St. Catherine where my father was at work at Metropolitan News. The policeman directing traffic at the corner of St. Catherine and Stanley was apparently a bit surprised, but he didn't try to stop me. He just waved me through. You can't do that ? I had to.

In the 1970's, on an assignment for Pinkerton, I ordered my driver to give chase when my subject tried to get away. As we speeded past a traffic cop, I flashed my badge and shouted, "Pinkerton in pursuit!"  Hey ! You can't do that ! I had to.

Something has brought me through one crisis, one disaster, one adventure after another. I am just not able to sit and do nothing when I know there is something I must do.

I can't give that something a name because - who has seen the wind ? But something has pulled me through the deepest darkness and rivers of tears again and again.

And so I go on doing what I must do, and hoping that which has protected me and sustained me so far will not forget that I am always afraid and always in need of support and protection.

Fear cannot rule me. Angels come in the forms of reliable friends. And, in turn, I never forget others who are also suffering and afraid. The hand that reaches out for help is the same hand that reaches out to help.

BRAVO TO THE REVOLUTIONARY ! YOU DON'T HAVE TO BE JEWISH

FACEBOOK
GOOD FRIDAY
April 22, 2011

Besides the Easter Eggs and the Church Services, Jesus was labelled a Revolutionary and nailed to the cross not because he did anything wrong ,Only because he stood for Fairness and Love.

Bravo to The Revolutionary who dared to go up against the establishment - not to gain position or fortune - but to speak truth and protect the innocent. And that is our legacy - not only the legacy of Christians, but the legacy of all good people ... to do justice and to speak truth even in the face of all opposition - in spite of those who lie and humiliate and suppress and deny and intimidate. "You don't have to be Jewish" - You don't have to be Christian - to do what your conscience tells you is right. Love what is good, Hate what is evil. Yes, the bible tells us to hate evil.

Amos 5:15 Hate evil, love good, maintain justice in the courts.
Psalm 97:10 Let those who love the Lord hate evil
Romans 12:9 Hate what is evil ; cleave to that which is good.
NOTICE THAT COMMAND IN AMOS -
MAINTAIN JUSTICE IN THE COURTS !

WHAT THE CANDIDATES HAVE DONE AND NOT DONE - PERSONAL EXPERIENCES

My name is Phyllis Carter. I am a Canadian journalist, a cancer patient and - thanks to the Montreal Police - I am also a crime victim. I have been fighting for justice since October 7, 1996, when I was attacked in my home and robbed of everything I had worked for all my life and everything left to me by my beloved husband.

While I was holding off my attacker, I managed to dial 911.

The Montreal Police I called to rescue me - helped the thief instead.

Through the years, I have been pleading for justice. Along the way, I have appealed for justice to members of government at all levels - politicians who had the position, the authority, the connections and the power to do justice in my case, but here I am - fourteen years later - still pleading for justice day and night - because politicians do not care about justice or human rights. They are only interested in power and perks for themselves and for their friends and families. You, the voter, have little or no value to them, once they ascend to power. They will slap your back and smile and kiss your baby during the campaign, but do not expect them to help you or to do justice unless you are rich and well-connected. I speak from long and painful experience.

I have come to know the characters of some of those who are now asking for your votes.

You, the voter, can get some insights by looking at what these candidates have done and failed to do.

As a councillor in the CDN-NDG Borough, Saulie Zeidel did absolutely nothing but vote "Oui" for anything Michael Applebaum proposed. Members of the community attending council meetings witnessed how Saulie spent all his time during council meetings - chatting with the female councillor sitting next to him. He didn't even bother to shut off his microphone, so his chats distracted everyone from the business at hand.

Phyllis Carter  With the rigid block of Michael Applebaum, Marvin Rotrand, Saulie Zeidel and Marcel Tremblay, there was no way for any opposition to succeed with only councillor Warren Allmand, and sometimes Francine Senecal having a different opinion. There was no democracy in the CDN-NDG Borough, as the block stifled opposition from the community by belittling citizens, calling us "mere splinters" and scoffing at our signed petitions. Whatever Michael Applebaum wanted to do, his block supported him. And now Saulie Zeidel is reaching for a higher throne where he may sit and rubber stamp some other power.

A GATHERING OF THE CANADIAN CLANS IS CALLED FOR

To my Canadian Friend -

Marion,

Chief Joseph said, "Treat all men alike. Give them the same laws." Hinmaton-Yalaktit.

The Bible says - "We know that the law is good if it is used properly" - Timothy 1:8, but I do not allow myself to be limited by what men wrote thousands of years ago. God could just as easily create my thoughts as theirs. My God is much too big to fit in any book. He can't be harnessed and He won't be gagged. Why did God give me brains if He didn't want me to use them?

Your experience, your knowledge, your heritage have shades of the Jewish People and the African People. Our peoples have all been oppressed, abused, robbed, humiliated and murdered by those who held power. The fact that the enemy had white skin is probably coincidental. It was not the colour of their skin that made them wicked and greedy. It was the coldness of their hearts. They did not feel the pain of their victims, only their own desires. We see that in our politicians in the west today.

In our world today, the rich are getting richer and more powerful, and those who are not rich are being suppressed by the very laws that were supposedly designed to ensure fairness for all.

Our times echo pre-WWII conditions. If the Jewish People of Europe had been able to speak out before they were overwhelmed, millions of lives might have been saved. But they were always an oppressed people in Europe and they could not get together and speak up. And those in North America who might have saved them, didn't care and didn't want to.

In Africa, those who held power sold their own people into slavery for more wealth and power. And those who were enslaved were not educated and could not gather together to save themselves.

Canadians of every race and religion and heritage are still free to gather together and to speak out, and we had better do it while we still can. There are those who are struggling to tear us apart, to divide Canada by language or religion, by race or social status. Those who know history and understand the games of politics and the hard hearts of those who seek to lord it over us, have the obligation to speak up now, before we fall into the same darkness.

I would love to see clans of Aboriginal Peoples gather together for a huge public demonstration on Parliament Hill before the elections. Do you have enough in common to help the rest of us choose the best path?

UNCLE SAM FELDMAN HAS DIED - METROPOLITAN NEWS AGENCY

April 16, 2011

I was sad but not surprised when my long-time friend Shirley phoned this evening to tell me of my Uncle Sam's passing. Sam Feldman was the owner of Metropolitan News Agency at 1248 Peel Street, Montreal.

My father, George Rubin, served the public at Metropolitan News day and night, in all kinds of weather, for 37 years, and almost every member of our extended family worked at Metro at some time in our lives. I started working there when I was eleven years old and I was there the day Sam closed the doors on the Peel Street location in the mid-1980's.

Sam started selling newspapers at Metro for the original owner, Charlie Manella, when he was just eight years old. He was smart, meticulously clean cut, athletic and always on the go. He expected all his employees to keep up with his pace. Once he invited the family to work at Metro in the mid-1940's, Sam was rarely in the store himself. My father took care of almost everything. But Sam was behind the counter after my father resigned, and he continued his devoted operation of the business he loved so much when he moved the store from Peel to nearby Cypress Street in the mid-1980's. Sam was on the job every day until he was in his nineties. There were good times and bad times, but Sam affected all our lives substantially.

I am glad Uncle Sam had such a long life and that he was well cared for in his last years. Downtown Montreal will never again be as rich and interesting as it was when Metropolitan News was at the corner of Peel and St. Catherine. Volumes could be written about the famous and fascinating people who passed through our store every day and every night through the decades.

This is a sad time, but I would like to think that Uncle Sam is now with his beloved Esther again. They have been apart for so long.

For those who have memories of Metropolitan News, you may be interested in reading

REMEMBERING MY FATHER, GEORGE RUBIN

UNCLE SAM AND THE BESWICK HORSE

Signed BESWICK England Bois Roussell Horse-Model #701

My father was so gracious, so forgiving and tolerant, that he would not be at all pleased about my writing and publishing this piece. No member of my family can testify to this, nor would they. They are all given to silence and privacy. If they saw or heard anything, they would not tell. But I must, at long last, tell the truth about what my father endured for thirty-seven years. What I witnessed as his helpless daughter and his co-worker for decades. My Pop would never have said a word. I have waited a long time to lift this from my heart.

My Uncle Sam Feldman was the owner of Metropolitan News at 1248 Peel Street in Montreal. Decades before the chain stores appeared in Montreal, Metro was the first international newspaper store in Montreal and it was known around the world.  Uncle Sam died on April 13, 2011. Now I can speak.

Uncle Sam owned Metropolitan News, but my father, George Rubin was the brains, the chief labourer and the personality who brought people back to the store from near and far day after day, year after year.

Uncle Sam would appear at the store suddenly, on the run, lay down some orders and disappear again. He was smart and, no doubt, he changed all our lives by bringing us into the business in the mid-1940's. He provided jobs for so many members of the family for so many years. For this I am sincerely grateful.

But Uncle Sam had a captive staff. Our labour kept that store running day and night in all kinds of weather. Our incomes were low but good enough for my father to sustain a modest home in NDG. But we froze in winter and sweated all year round working at Metro. The work was hard and the pressure was high. The real reward was being at the heart of the city meeting people from all over the world every day. Metropolitan News was my alma mater.

Working at Metro would have been pretty nearly perfect if it were not for the fear I always had of Uncle Sam, because when he did come into the store, he talked to my father - not as his brother-in-law, not as his store manager, not as a fellow gentleman - but as if my father were his liveried servant. It hurt me deeply. Generations have passed and it still hurts me.

I have not written about this before so as not to hurt Sam, but now he is gone and the truth must be told. All the money in the world could not assuage the pain I have always felt because of the way Uncle Sam treated my father - for thirty-seven years. Sam was not slow to insult my father openly in front of the staff and customers.

My father endured it all with incredible grace, I never heard him talk back or argue and he never complained about it in my hearing. My father just worked - day and night - winter and summer.

My grandfather, Sam's father, also worked winter and summer, serving newspapers through the open window onto Peel Street, even in below zero weather. I am glad Uncle Sam gave his father a job, but how could he have allowed his own aged father to work in such difficult circumstances when he could have afforded to pay him a salary to sit by a pool in Florida? I can't get past these images.

Sam was aloof, distant. It seemed his mind was always somewhere else even while his body was present. He never used foul language. He could cut you down politely, if he deigned to speak to you at all. I don't recall if I ever heard a kind word from him. Perhaps, once, a long time ago. I believe he wanted to be a good man, but I also have reason to believe he was afraid, always afraid of intimacy with outsiders - that was anyone other than his wife and his own children.

When I was a very young teen just starting to work at the store, Sam told me not to get friendly with the staff. I didn't obey. I was stubborn and naive and I always liked to talk to people and, as a result I did get into some near-miss situations which might have turned out badly, but didn't.

I once asked Uncle Sam if I might write an article about Metropolitan News. He forbid me. He didn't want anyone taking an interest in his business. When the National Film Board wanted to do some filming in the store, my father had to persuade Sam to allow them in for a few minutes. The result is in an NFB film called, MONTREAL BY NIGHT.

There is one thing I want to say about my Uncle Sam that reveals a different aspect of his character. It is the story of the Beswick Horse.

In addition to newspapers and magazines from around the world, Sam created a new department at Metro. He brought in English bone china cups and saucers and Irish linens. At the time, this was innovative in Montreal. And more members of the family were brought in to serve these gift items - including my mother and my grandmother, Sam's mother.

And there was a Beswick bone china horse on the shelf. I fell in love with it. I have always loved horses and that fine china horse enchanted me. I asked my father if I might buy it. Pop said I would have to ask Sam. And because I longed for the Beswick Horse with such intensity, I screwed up my courage one day and asked Sam's permission to buy the Beswick Horse. He did not give me an answer, but he said he would think about it.

When I came into the store the next day, Pop told me that Sam had refused. He would not sell me the Beswick Horse. My heart sank. I was a young girl, perhaps fifteen, and such things hit hard when your heart's desire is torn away from you. But, wait. Pop said, "Sam doesn't want you to have that horse. It's a work horse. But he is giving you another one - as a gift.".

And he did. Sam gave me a tall, chestnut, Beswick fine bone china thoroughbred racing horse. What a gift !

What did it mean? Sam loved horses too. He loved hockey and he loved horses. His life was filled with horse racing and gambling and he understood the love of horses. And he wanted his niece to have the finest Beswick Horse - the kind of horse that meant so much to him.

And that is the only time I can remember when Uncle Sam showed me his heart.

What happened to my Beswick Horse? Like so many things in my life, it was taken from me - broken in storage many years later. I received the insurance money but - as with all my treasures stolen by my niece, Dawn McSweeney, in 1996 - nothing can replace objects imbued with precious memories.

Nothing can replace the Beswick Horse Uncle Sam gave me. But the very thought of it tempers my memories of who my Uncle Sam was. My grandmother loved him so much. She doted on him and he on her. I try to think of that love, and for her sake, I wish I were able to forgive him for what he did to my father. Half a century has passed and it still hurts.

How different would my father's life had been if Sam had treated him well? How often did my father suffer in silence, and smile and just walk away? He endured the injuries for thirty-seven years until, one day, he just couldn't take that last insult - and he resigned. Without a pension.

There were good times and there were bad times. What if ? If Uncle Sam had treated my father kindly and with respect, how different would I be today? Very different. The whole course of my life would have been different. Better.  I would have been a better person. I am forever working at it.

This is justice for my father. He would not have wanted it and he would not approve. But it is justice for a man who would not, who could not defend himself. And Uncle Sam? This is what he most feared - being exposed. Strangely enough, I find I am feeling sorry for him. Poor man. He was afraid all the time. But now it is over.

IDOL WORSHIP IN THE TWENTY-FIRST CENTURY

Whether or not we specifically hype scientists, doctors and teachers, I believe it would be a wise turn of events if we could find ways to shine a light on the system that makes the worst sorts of people "celebrities".

A teacher may be loved and admired by his or her students, but a weird character who dresses in raw flesh is given world-wide publicity. Performers who use illicit drugs, engage in sex with scores of partners and behave like lunatics in public get all the media attention and are paid generously for their disgusting behaviour.

No wonder young people with undeveloped brains and characters are lured into bizarre behaviour. Blame corporations and the media for making the worst kinds of people public "idols" for youngsters to emulate. It isn't easy to sell millions of expensive T-shirts and DVD's that feature a nice person. Their impact is too subtle and nice people are reluctant to sell their souls to the corporations.

Parents who finance purchases of all the gimmicks and gadgets sold in the names of the "idols"make the whole game a big success.

MY KNIGHTS ARE FOR FIGHTING

I have not slept in a normal pattern for fourteen years - since I was attacked and robbed - with the help of a Montreal Police officer. Dawn McSweeney's crimes destroyed my family and my health, but worse than that - by covering for these crimes, Canada's justice system has betrayed us.

So my nights - and my days - are devoted to fighting for justice. I tell the world about Dawn McSweeney's crimes and how her accomplices - her "partners in crime" and the police and politicians who have been aiding and abetting her crimes - have injured us.

Thousands of people from Slovenia to China and around the globe are reading about Dawn McSweeney's crimes and Canada's injustice system. And somewhere out there, one decent, honourable person who loves justice more than money will reach out and come to help us.

I believe in Camelot.

THERE WILL BE NO PEACE WITHOUT JUSTICE.

THE TRUTH ABOUT QUEBEC

FACEBOOK
April 14, 2011

William Phelps  Phyllis, since you're from Quebec, perhaps you can shed some light on a question that I have pondered for quite some time. Do the people of Quebec really want to separate from Canada, or is it just the politicians trying to convince everyone that they need to separate?

William asks -  - Do the people of Quebec really want to separate from Canada, or is it just the politicians trying to convince everyone that they need to separate?

Based on my personal observations for decades, it is my belief that most people just want to live in peace. They don't want complications in their lives. But there are always extremists who are the ones who make themselves heard and who influence thinking. They are usually public personalities - the intellectuals - writers, poets, union leaders, artists, professors - and pseudo-intellectuals who like to see themselves in the glow of those leaders. This group likes publicity, likes to feel important, likes power and also likes to pick at sore spots - such as ancient grievances and antagonisms. They keep pressing for more  protection for the French language but no amount of protection will ever satisfy them because what they really want is power.

They attract the media and they work in the media and they use the media to keep their cause and their actions in the forefront of public attention, thereby initiating new converts - particularly students and malcontents - to their cause.

Such people will never be satisfied. Under the guise of their love for the French culture, there is a running theme of hatred for those who are different. Many separatists are overtly or covertly anti-Semitic. They accept Haitian immigrants because the Haitian people speak French, but I do not believe that separatists truly love their Black confreres. That is my opinion based on years of observation and experience. I know it is not something that will be accepted as politically correct. It is simply what I believe based on everything I have seen and heard for fifty years.

But I stress this: Most Quebecers would like to live in peace with their neighbours and I believe that most Quebecers enjoy being Canadian.

So many non-franco Quebecers are bilingual, even tri-lingual, and intelligent people are usually proud to be able to use more than one language. But the voices that are always heard are the ones of extremists and, because the media have so much influence over what people outside of Quebec hear, you are hearing the voices of extremists and not of the people of Quebec. Those loud and persistent whining  and menacing voices influence voters.

We who lived through the October Crisis remember how destructive hatred can be.  That makes people fearful and submissive. It also makes people outside of Quebec believe that the extremists represent Quebec. They do not.
