MONTREAL - Vandals has attacked the West island Black Community Association (WIBCA) in Roxboro Tuesday, spray painting its walls and delivering an offensive note.

Some time early on Tuesday, a paper was left in the mailbox reading "nigger go home" while the walls were defaced with the painted message: "PQ rules."

Police are investigating the vandalism, which occurred on quiet 4th Ave. South near the Back River.

The graffiti and note were discovered at 8:30 a.m. on election day by WIBCA President Tomacuita James, who is the mother of Liberal MNA for Nelligan Yolande James, the first black female elected to National Assembly.

"I have all kinds of emotions but most of all disappointment and anger," said Tomacuita James. "It's awful, it's terrible."

"People have to be so very careful with their words, because words are very powerful, and you really don't know what the effect of your words is going to be," she said.

She noted that the group has never been attacked or vandalized in its 30 years of existence.
