There are, no doubt, many interpretations
Of this famous quote,
But the truth is simple:
All people are not created equal.
Babies are born - created -
With hare lips,
Missing limbs,
Heart defects,
Heart defects,
Brain damage,
And a myriad of possible defects.
At the same time, others are born
With all their parts in good condition.
Some are born to be tall,
Others will be looking up at them
All their lives.
Some are born with beautiful features,
Others are destined to be homely.
Some will develop high intelligence,
Others will struggle to learn arithmetic.
Some are born into riches,
Others are born into poverty,
And hardship.
Those who are born Caucasian
Usually have a substantial advantage
Over those born with brown skin.
Just because something is old,
And has been accepted for a long time,
Does not mean it is true.
All "men" are not "created" equal,
And all women
Are not born into the same advantages
As men.
It is not The Creator
Who makes people "equal"
Who makes people "equal"
It will have to be people
Who create a society
Where everyone has a fair chance.
But that can't happen
Until people stop believing lies.
