MUFFLING FREEDOM OF SPEECH IN THE CANADIAN PROVINCE OF QUEBEC

Granby isn't the only town to make it an offence to insult the police. Sherbrooke, Shawinigan and Quebec City, for example, have similar bylaws on the books, raising the question of why so many feel it necessary to "protect" the police from verbal abuse, especially now. ‪#‎news‬

  • Phyllis Carter Fascists always want to stifle free speech. In North Korea, the bewildered leader just kills anyone who looks at him cockeyed or dozes off when he is orating. We, Canadians, human beings, have a basic human right to speak the truth. That does not mean we have a right to use filth or bigotry or to lie or to incite violence. But truth is the most powerful weapon in the world and all villains fear it. Silence is the enemy of justice.
