AMERICA IN BED WITH SAUDI ARABIA - WHAT ELSE IS NEW?

Politics, they say, makes strange bedfellows.

The west has always patted the heads and filled the coffers of dictators.

Chamberlain thought Hitler was a jolly good fellow. America supported Batista and middle eastern killers. Britain thought nothing of massacring thousands of Indian children to hold onto their tea and scones and their "jewel in the crown."

Our history has had its bright lights, but we choose to forget agent orange and the blood of Viet Nam.

We choose not to remember Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

Television ads press us to support wounded, dismembered, freaked-out veterans of unjust wars. We should be sympathetic and help them because their governments made them go out on adventures to kill strangers and burn homes, to rape women and little children.

And now America and Saudi Arabia are in bed together. Could it get any uglier? Snakes, they say, have no shame.

The descendants of this generation will have to do some very fancy editing
to obliterate what America and our allies are doing today.
